qmail-scanner stops mail dead

Hello Everyone.

The moment I add "QMAILQUEUE="/var/qmail/bin/qmail-scanner-queue.pl" export QMAILQUEUE" to the "qmail-smtpd/run" the mail starts and nothing happens...

No logs record what is happening, no mail transfers... noda, zip, bubkiss...

I have done the install 3 times now to make sure I didn't miss anything. I have tested my paths and all looks right. The Qmail works find without the scanner, but that leaves me unprotected...

Has anyone experience this before??? I really don't want to leave my clients to the wild.

I am running a RH8 box, with all patches. I probably should have put this in the RH section but I find that narrows my search and viewers sometimes.
