trouble connecting to imap w/ outlook 2003

it there an incompatable problem with qmail and outlook 2003? there are times when outlook was unable to connect to imap, retrive new mail, or something about download (null) folder. anyone seen and fix this problem before?

I have been testing with Outlook 2002 with no problems. I have found Outlook Express to be much faster when working with IMAP. I am curious why people chose Outlook over Outlook Express. OE is cheaper =)
