Awesome! Looking forward to it as I'm about to upgrade my email server.
Could you include the patch changing the domain of the bounced emails?

hi mates,
i have used qmr for 1 years on several linux boxes. QMR is really good. thanks to all for this great guide.
i generally had spam trouble. especially there were lots of spams in queue. i added some rblspmtd lines in smtp script and it helped a lot. but it still had some spams in queue. then i searched on the net if there were good way to stop spams which stay in queue. i found chkuser patch. i also found another qmail guide to install qmail with chkuser patch. http://www.shupp.org/toaster/index.php (src.rpm : http://www.qmailtoaster.com )
i think it would be great if the chkuser patch was included in the next release. i think it is necessary to fight against the spams.
my smtp run script:
.....
-u "$QMAILDUID" -g "$NOFILESGID" 0 smtp \
rblsmtpd \
-r dul.dnsbl.sorbs.net \
-r bl.spamcop.net \
-r misc.dnsbl.sorbs.net \
-r spam.dnsbl.sorbs.net \
-r smtp.dnsbl.sorbs.net \
-r zombie.dnsbl.sorbs.net \
...........
i wanted to share my opinion with u to make QMR the best.
thank you.

Hey fellas,
I've pretty much decided what changes are going to be put in for the Spamassassin portion of the new guide. The last part that I'm still working on is the pop3 over ssl portion. I was originally going to use stunnel to do this, but people seemed to feel that using courier's pop3 ssl service was a better choice so I am working on that. I am trying to have a beta version of the new guide up within the next week.
On another topic, I may indeed want to appoint some moderators to the forum to help police it. Please refrain from posting multiple messages criticising me and how I run the site. I understand that forum spam can be annoying, and I understand that it's probably frustrating waiting so long for me to put out a new release of the install guide, but if you've got to vent or light a fire under my ass about something please email me directly. Emails sent directly to me usually get read.
Up@#$%!@#$%!@#$%!@#$%!@#$%!@#$%! the guide is not like it used to be. Back in the day, when nobody cared, I could update the site on a whim and do whatever I wanted to. Today, I've got pressure from tons of people on what they do and do not want to see in the guide and so forth and so on. I try to accomodate every request that I can, while at the same time keeping the guide as easy as possible for newbies. This means that making changes to the guide requires lots of research, testing, feedback and time. When you combine that with a fulltime job and family, time is very tight.
Anyway, I hope that answers some questions. Enjoy!
Thanks,
Eric

Yeah, it is good to be back. I'm excited about getting the release finished up. Part of me wishes it was like the good old bachelor days when I could stay up until 4am working on the site, but alas my new wife requires me to be in bed much earlier...which of course has its benefits. :)

Heheheh. :) Very nice, Eric. I've been using your guide for about 3 years now. I love it, and I can't wait to see what the new one looks like... Seriously, it's the best thing since sliced bread, and I want to thank you a ton! :)
And yes, the benefits of going to bed early are tangible. ;)
And I think I speak for everyone here... Thanks SO much for putting your time and effort into this. :)

Eric,
I'm sure I speak for a large body of quiet-yet-pleased users of the QMR guides & downloads - we sincerely appreciate what you've done. Without your guide, I very likely would not have had as good an e-mail setup as I do now. I am anxiously awaiting your release of v3.0 stable (or a release candidate, if you do that).
Keep up the good work, and don't let those that are ungrateful get to you. Some people just plain don't known any better.
Thanks for all your hard work!

Hey Eric. :) Just wondering how things are going? :) Any news, and do you need help with anything? I'd be happy to lend a hand if you need anything. :) I have access to pretty much every Linux/BSD flavor (except we just phased out our RedHatboxes), including Gentoo, Debian (3.1 mostly), FreeBSD 4.x, FreeBSD 5.x (No 6.x yet). If you need anything tested on those, let me know!

any chance you will be intergrating these instructions into QMR 3.0?

seems pretty useful these days

dev.qmailrocks.org pretty much has the completed 3.0 guide. There are a few things here and there that I'm still working on, but overall it's usable by anyone who isn't a newb. I've used it a few times in the last couple weeks for new server builds. I just bought a house about a month ago so it's been really really busy around here. Between work, my kid and new house stuff I've been swamped as usual. I've been trying to play catchup over the holidays. Sorry for the delay folks.

hi,
the guide is also quiet good working for debian (sarge) and ~ 3 weeks ago it also worked with a debian (etch) installation but there the ucspi-ssl is no longer working (see post in debian-section).
have you maybe tried already to test it on debian etch too?
