Hello all,
I have yet another stupid question to ask. And this one too has been confusing me for quite long now, although I have gone through the complete qmail book from oreilly and other internet resources/documentation. Here is my question:
One of the most advertised advantage of qmail system is that users can read / retrieve their emails from MySQL Database Server using POP3 / IMAP. Ok very good. BUT, how qmail delivers the email "in" the user accounts in MySQL database? In almost every document I see VPOPmail being configured so no user accounts need to be created on the OS (Linux in my case). But when an email comes for this particular user (say john) to the QMail SMTP server on our network entry point, how does qmail send the email to the database and stores it as a row in a table. I mean there is no mentioning of this step any where in any document I have read including "life with qmail". Imean doesn't that need to be configured in qmail ? or does this functionality comes bundled with qmail ? and even it comes bundled, how can I use it to make qmail deliver mails in MySQL DB and not to the home directory of the user ?
I hope I was able to explain my question correctly. As I said this might be a stupid question. but since I do not know the answer, this is something greek to me. Please help me out here or point me in the right direction.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Kamran Azeem
